I wanted to start my very first post telling you a little more about myself and why I started blogging…what lead me to this point…
I’ve always had a passion for design and problem-solving. A high school teacher opened my eyes to the possibilities of design. With great passion, I went on to Architecture school in college. I loved every minute. Creating new designs, building things with my hands, I was in heaven. I graduated thinking I had made it in this world! I started my dream job in Atlanta straight outta school.
Shortly thereafter, things in Atlanta took a downturn. I realized for the first time that I was not in control of my future or my career path! I returned to school for an MBA, knowing business was a little more stable. After graduation, I took a job as a business manager, still under the control of someone else. All the while having this feeling that I was missing something in my life.
For 5 years I was stuck in the safe zone. Taking no risks in my life, while watching all my friends go on to have successful careers. I constantly had this nagging feeling of incompleteness.
It’s been a dream of mine to combine both my design oriented creative self with my business entrepreneurial self. I want to create something I can be proud of. Something I can use as a teaching tool, to show my daughter that with hard work and passion, women can be successful!
Now is the time to get in the driver’s seat. Now is the time to follow my dreams.
I have lofty goals for The Carpool Knitter. I want to build a place to help and inspire knitters of all levels. A place to find information from patterns to stitches, to fixing mistakes. A place to find inspiration for new products and reviewing trendy finds. Also, help you with cool tricks I find along the way. And just have a lot of fun knitting while we’re at it!
Can’t wait to chat again soon! Happy knitting!
